How can I get started?
You can get started in two ways. You can write me a letter via e-mail or snail mail telling me about yourself and your writing goals, and asking me any questions you have. I'll answer your letter the day I get it, and then you can decide if you want to work with me.
How much does coaching cost?
My hourly rate is $65.
How long will we work together?
I've worked with some writers for well over a year, and with others for only a short time on one project. It's really up to you and your needs.
Do you guarantee I'll get published?
Absolutely not. Getting published is a matter of a certain amount of talent and a lot of determination. You bring the talent — I'll help you with the determination!
Can you work with me on a screenplay?
No. I work with writers only on the kinds of writing I've done successfully myself. I've never written a screenplay.
What if I disagree with your critique?
Then you stick to the way you think is right. I'm wrong sometimes — I can't guarantee I'll be right — only that my opinion will be honest and informed by my knowledge and experience.
Will I need to revise my work?
Almost certainly. I haven't yet seen a manuscript (my own included!) that was perfect in the first draft. Most writers who aspire to be really good revise their work several times before they're satisfied.
